Photofriday: Minimalism

The lonely Route 66 from Glenrio, Texas to San Jon, New Mexico:

Route 66 - super fantastic

Last weekend (Memorial Day) Kris, Matt, and I drove Route 66 from the Texas/New Mexico border to Santa Fe and camped along the way. It is a really beautiful and desolate part of the country. I loved driving that route and taking photos along the way. Here are a few...

Salvagetti's webcam

Current music: Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank

Salvagetti now has webcams of their shop! Check it out here.

I am waiting for them to call me to pick up my new wheels (black Velocity Aeroheads) and I looked and I can see them being built! This is a shot I just saved from their live webcam:

Update: They built the wheels wrong. They put silver spokes on instead of black ones. So, now I have to wait until Friday to have my bike finished and I am going out of town on Friday. Ugh.

Denver Cruise - pajama night

Every Wednesday night all summer there is a bike cruise in downtown Denver. It starts at the Ginn Mill on Larimer and 20th at 7pm. This week was the first one of the year and there were easily over 100 people who turned up. I got some videos and photos of course. Don't forget this Friday is Track Attack! Photos are here.

New bike - under construction

Current music: Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

So, my frame finally came in. After only about 8 weeks of waiting it has arrived in teh champagne color I requested. It looks exactly as I hoped it would. Now is the time to start getting all the components I have been wanting to get all along, but waiting to make sure the paint was the color I expected. Yesterday I purchased a wheelset and most of the other components I need. The wheels will be in and built this coming Saturday and the rest of the stuff should be in later this week. Hopefully it will be completely built next weekend or early next week.

Mexico (day 8)

Current music: Everclear - Sparkle and Fade

Our last day was short. I spent a little time at the beach in the morning with a cup of coffee from Choco Banana then did some shopping and photo'ing. More photos here.

Mexico (day 7)

I spent some time wandering the town in search of gifts for a few people and myself and more importantly to take some photos of this great place. I found some old men playing poker who actually asked me to take their photo... More here.

Mexico (day 6) - my birthday

Jamien and Jeff left early in the morning and the rest of took a walk down the beach to the north. We tried to get to San Pancho for their market, but didn't make it because of ants, spiders, and other crawlies. However, on the way we acquired a dog and named her Carmen. Carmen was quite the crab finder. More photos from days 5 and 6 here.

Mexico (day 5) - Dan's birthday

So... on day 4 I ate some ceviche at a small place on the north side of town. This was a mistake. I am pretty sure this is what made me sick on day 5. Therefore, I got very few photos this day due to the sickness.

On day 3 I took a solo walk on the beach then through a jungle to the next beach, through a cave and to the end of the next beach. More photos here.

Mexico (day 2)

Current music: Bright Eyes - Lifted or the Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground

After eating some migas and avocado margaritas we headed over to Playa De Los Muertos for some swimming action. Later on in the day after a nice siesta we walked down the beach to the north. Jeff was searched by the police for drugs and then we had margs at Bar Playa. The power was out in all of Sayulita when we got back so we went to a wood-fired pizza place and ate dinner by candlelight. Not a bad day... Pictures here.

Back from Mexico and Montezuma came with me

So, Sayulita is amazing. Here are some photos from the first day I was there. I am going to continue sorting photos and post more in the coming days... Remember, if you go to Mexico be careful where you eat or Montezuma might find you. More photos from the first day here.
