Yet Another Vail Powder Day

Current music: d.Biddle - Rabbit and the Moon

Yesterday was a spectacular day at Vail. It started out cold and overcast, but quickly got warm and sunny. Bosch and some of his friends from San Fran met up with Jeff, Mel, and I to rip some good lines... More photos here.

NASA scientists huddling

Everybody has seen the generic NASA scientist images from the 1960s with a bunch of guys in ties and horn-rimmed glasses huddling around something. I figured, since I was going to NASA, I needed some of these images while we were doing tests on the very early shell of the Wireless Lunar Habitat Mockup. More pictures here.

New Mexico - Man Weekend 2008

It is becoming a tradition for Allan and I to head to New Mexico every fall for a weekend of camping in the desert. This year we went to Santa Rosa and Santa Fe. It was beautiful and sunny and the sunsets were those amazing ones you can only get in the big desert skies. More photos here.

Favorite spot on campus this time of year

Current music: The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

After Sam suggested that this was the best place on campus in the fall, I agree. It is the south side of the UMC. Almost perfect:

Early morning on the platform

Current music: NPR's All Songs Considered

The past few days have been really cold in the morning. Riding 3 miles to the Union Station is objectionable at that time of the morning at that temperature. Instead I have been riding over to Alameda Station and then taking the train downtown to Union Station to the bus. This morning, this is the look of the platform:

Weekend camping at the Great Sand Dunes National Park

It was a mixed bag. A bit of rain and a bit of sun. The rain made it easy to walk on the sand, but really changed our weekend. A few pics below and more here.

Visit from the parents

Current music: The Beatles - Love

My parents were in town for the past week. It was nice to see them and spend some time with them. They enjoyed our Colorado weather (sun) and riding bikes around Denver. They even joined the Denver Cruisers for a Wednesday night ride and my dad went in the Circle of Death!

More tomatoes than I can eat

My tomato plant is yielding huge right now. I can't wait until my tomatillos start ripening up too! So much salsa and salad:
